Hotel For The U.S. Military At Walt Disney World

Shades of Green

Shades Of Green is located on Walt Disney World property. The Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC) is a resort serving members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The AFRC Resorts were built and financed by Service Members’ own funds and now operates on a self-sustaining basis. As the only AFRC in the Continental United States, Shades Of Green is operated by the U.S. Army with support from all branches of our U.S. military by offering tax-free accommodations. This Florida resort sits on 27 acres and is mere minutes away from the Magic Kingdom. It, comfortably, sits between two PGA Championship golf courses.

Room Details

There are 583 rooms that sleep up to 5 people. There is also a Wounded Warrior suite and 23 ADA compliant rooms. The resort also supplies FREE WiFi to all resort guests. As a partner of Walt Disney World, all guests at the resort can enjoy the Early Theme Park Entry, too. Discounted tickets for the military are sold at this resort and at the theme parks.

Restaurants/Pools

Shades Of Green has restaurants where kids, up to age 6, eat free. Of course, a resort just isn’t complete without a swimming pool. Shades Of Green has two!

Transportation

Yes, there is convenient bus transportation to all Walt Disney World parks from Shades Of Green, also. Bus transportation starts 30 minutes before the parks open. Magic Kingdom and Epcot buses run every 20 minutes. Those buses take you to the Transportation and Ticket Center for you to jump on a monorail to get to the Magic Kingdom or Epcot. The buses for all other parks, including Disney Springs and water parks, leave at the bottom of every hour. If you miss the bus and do not want to wait an hour for the next bus, you can walk across the street to the Polynesian and take their transportation to the parks.
